Developer Samuels & Associates, one of the more prolific builders in Fenway of late, wants to add an approximately one-acre park to its expansion of Landmark Center.
Recall that that project at Brookline Avenue and Park Drive is due to add 550 housing units, 110,000 square feet of retail, 15,000 square feet of office space, and an underground, 1,500-space parking garage.
A 75,000-square-foot Wegmans grocery store, too, was included in the retail plans when the city signed off on the expansion in late 2014.
However! A principal at Samuels & Associates suggested to the Herald’s Donna Goodison that the Wegmans, the city’s first, may not materialize. “There are some physical changes to the building that are changing how we do the retail.”
Details on these changes are expected before the summer. Meanwhile, the developer needs a sliver of city-owned land for that park, which would also supplant a parking lot.
Stay tuned.
