The 20-room, 6,998-square-foot townhouse at 85 Pinckney Street on Beacon Hill’s Louisburg Square dates from 1900 and has not traded since 1997.
Currently configured as two units—a main home with a guest suite on the parlor and garden floors—it’s on the market now through Otis & Ahearn as a single-family for $14,950,000.
If it sells for anywhere near that, 85 Pinckney will likely end up as one of Boston’s biggest deals of 2017.
Predictably perhaps, given the area, the townhouse boasts all kinds of posh bells and whistles. There is an elevator; cathedral ceilings; a two-tier roof deck (hey, there’s John Kerry’s house!); a paneled library; six fireplaces; eight bathrooms, including six full; and the potential for five bedrooms.
Curiously enough, 85 Pinckney was listed briefly in 2008 for $11,500,000. Nothing came of that. Stay tuned this go-round.
