The 3,123-square-foot carriage house at 20 Westgate Lane in Cohasset on the South Shore was once part of a larger estate that belonged to businessman Albert S. Bigelow.
It dates from 1886, and it last traded in 2014 for $696,500.
The house was then significantly renovated—new roof, new pine floors, new heating, etc.—and is now on the market through Compass for $1,195,000.
It’s a beaut, that’s for sure, with a capaciousness born of 27-foot ceilings and an open staircase. Touches from its humbler roots remain, too: The posts and beams date from 1886, when 20 Westgate really was a stable.
