The 13-room, 3,843-square-foot Shingle-style house with Colonial Revival flourishes at 281 Ashmont Street in Dorchester’s Ashmont area originally hit the sales market in late May for $985,000.
The price has since dropped to $899,000.
The house, which dates from 1892 and which the firm of Longfellow, Alden & Harlow designed, is listed through Compass. It has not sold since 1991, when it traded for about $401,000 in today’s dollars (sigh).
The most striking feature of the pile is its sheer space, which includes room for up to five bedrooms and a finished basement with a bar.
