Chelsea home prices at the start of 2018: Little bit less expensive than Mattapan

The average asking price for a market-rate home in Chelsea is $252 a square foot, according to a January 26 analysis of listings from real estate research site NeighborhoodX.

That average comes from a range that runs from $197 a foot to $470.

Here’s NeighborhoodX research director Constantine Valhouli with some perspective:

“To put Chelsea’s average price of $252 a square foot in the context of Boston neighborhoods, it is a bit more affordable than the least expensive neighborhood in Boston: Mattapan ($264 a foot).”
