The 17-room, 9,282-square-foot brick colonial at 65 Essex Road in the Newton slice of Chestnut Hill includes four levels and seven fireplaces.

The house dating from 1920 also has six and a half bathrooms and the potential for six bedrooms. There are multiple balconies and terraces, too, all the better to regard the property’s nearly one and a quarter acres.

How much? Not cheap, as would be expected. The house is asking $6.95 million through Robin Allen at William Raveis.
