The worst day for traveling around Boston during the 2018 holiday season will be Wednesday, December 19, according to an analysis from AAA. The worst time on that worst day will be from between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

The analysis also found that a record 112.5 million people in the United States are expected to drive, fly, or train it during late December. That is also a 4.4 percent increase from 2017.

Most of these travelers will go by car, and traffic is already bad enough in the Boston area without any extra impetus for people to head out. The holidays will provide that, though, with AAA estimating that the extra traffic will make vehicular trips from 3:30 to 4:30 on December 19 three and a half times longer than usual (emphasis ours).
