The ZIP code 02108, which covers parts of Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Downtown Crossing, was the most expensive in the Boston region for buying a home in 2017, according to an analysis from real estate research site PropertyShark.

The median sales price for that ZIP was $1,432,500.

The second most expensive ZIP in the region was 02481, which covers Wellesley Hills. The median there in 2017 was $1.4 million. Such prices placed both 02481 and 02108 among the 100 most expensive in the United States.

Codes in Waban, Weston, and Cambridge rounded out the top five for the Boston region. PropertyShark also has the priciest for all of Massachusetts. Notes the site:

There was noticeable price growth across the market’s upper end as well, with 13 out of the top 50 most expensive zip codes in Massachusetts posting median sale prices over the $1 million mark. By comparison, 2016 rankings featured only 10 zips in the +$1 million category.

All sales glory is fleeting, though. As PropertyShark notes, 2016’s most expensive ZIP was 02199, which covers the part of Back Bay around the Pru, “thanks to a handful of high-priced condo sales in exclusive Back Bay high-rises. In 2017 however, only four properties traded hands here.”
