Boston remains one of the most expensive major U.S. cities to rent a one- or a two-bedroom apartment, according to an analysis of vacant and available units as of April 30 from real estate listings site Zumper.
The median one-bedroom rent in Boston is $2,300 a month, and the two-bedroom median is $2,700. Both are more than roughly twice the national medians of $1,185 for a one-bedroom and $1,422 for a two-bedroom.
Perhaps the only silver lining for tenants is that the Boston two-bedroom median is “only” the sixth most expensive in the nation behind San Francisco, New York, San Jose, Washington, and Los Angeles.
But the one-bedroom median stands as the fourth priciest. And both medians were up year over year; and unchanged from the end of March. See the chart below for a deeper breakdown.
