The recently rechristened Encore Boston Harbor casino-resort going up in Everett will have year-round water taxi service to whisk people from stops in Boston’s Seaport District and Financial District to the development on the banks of the Mystic.
Encore Boston Harbor, which is also the name of the Wynn Resorts-backed entity behind the 3 million-square-foot casino, announced the service on May 24. Boston BoatWorks, a custom yacht-builder based in Charlestown only 1.5 miles from the casino, will construct the three “European-style, low-profile motor yachts.”
They will be 41 feet long and able to accommodate 40 riders each; and each will contain “a computerized gyro stabilizer for smooth sailing in choppy condition.” Encore Boston Harbor is privately funding the boats, which are expected to cost approximately $3 million total. They will run 365 days a year throughout the daytime and evening.
The runs from the Seaport and the Financial District to Everett will take about 20 minutes each. Encore Boston Harbor hasn’t decided on specific locations, fares, or schedules. The complex is scheduled to open in June 2019. Stay tuned.
