The 10 least expensive market-rate homes in South Boston as of early July are all well under $600,000, according to an analysis from real estate research site NeighborhoodX. Some, in fact, are no more than $450,000, a veritable steal for Boston proper these days.
But the lower prices come with a ... well, price, at least when it comes to size. None of the 10—all condos—are larger than 900 square feet. Still, it’s the tag that counts on these.
“To put this in context,” NeighborhoodX research director Constantine Valhouli said over email, “the asking prices for the 10 most affordable properties in Southie are higher than those in Brighton, and are higher on a per-square-foot basis (so, smaller units) than those in Eastie.” See the chart below for a deeper breakdown.
