The shingle-style house at 120 Rawson Road on Aspinwall Hill in Brookline began life in the late 1880s as a barn for a local estate, according to its Compass listing.
The barn, or carriage house, has long since been converted; and it is now on sale for $6.25 million. That history makes it one of the more interesting listings in the Boston region in quite some time.
There are vestiges of its former life throughout, including the indoor ramp, the stalls, the high ceilings, the turret, the gable roof, and the exposed beams.
The 6,313-square-foot house comes complete with three and a half bathrooms and the potential for four bedrooms.
