A walkup attic with two bedrooms caps the 1,876-square-foot colonial at 59 Hopedale Street in fast-changing Allston.

Otherwise, the house dating from 1900 includes three other bedrooms as well as two bathrooms—and the potential to spruce it up a bit. First, though, there’s the matter of the bill: 59 Hopedale is asking $899,900 through Re/Max Select’s Kevin Cleary.

That’s pretty much average for single-families in modern-day Boston. A report from real estate research firm the Warren Group and the Greater Boston Association of Realtors based on deals from October pegged the average single-family sales price in Boston at $416 a square foot. Fifty-nine Hopedale is asking $473.
