Cambridge’s most expensive home sale in 2019 was an 11-room Italianate

The 6,252-square-foot Italianate at 197 Coolidge Hill in Cambridge’s West Cambridge neighborhood went on the sales market in late September for $7.9 million. By late October, it was gone—sold for $7.15 million through Gibson Sotheby’s Michael Carucci.

That tag ended up making the 11-room house with a two-car attached garage and an au pair suite the most expensive home sale in the People’s Republic in all of 2019.

It was a close-run thing though: The 12-room, 7,000-square-foot Victorian at 5 Fayerweather Street, also in West Cambridge, traded in January for $7 million. Its price had come down from $8.5 million.
