Two units at 359 Beacon Street in Back Bay are on sale together as that relatively rare thing in Boston: a maisonette.
The quasi-townhouses within buildings—but often with their own street-level entrances—are popular in other major cities, including New York, but have never really caught on in Boston.
Units 2 and 4 at the seven-unit 359 Beacon run to 3,770 square feet total and contain 10 rooms as well as nine fireplaces and four full bathrooms. There are all sorts of special touches, including a wine room and an enclosed patio (with murals).

The size and the opportunity do not come cheap. The maisonette is asking $7.9 million through Gibson Sotheby’s Michael Carucci.
