The median sales price for a detached single-family in Boston in December was $625,000, according to the latest figures from the Greater Boston Association of Realtors and the Warren Group, a local research firm.

So that makes the colonial at 90 Bourne Street in Jamaica Plain—with its $659,900 price tag through Re/Max—relatively affordable.

It’s certainly intriguing. The 1,530-square-foot house dating from 1935 comes with the potential for upgrades or even a full renovation. There are three bedrooms and a bathroom to work with, never mind a yard that’s pretty sizable by Boston standards.

Neighborhoods such as Jamaica Plain, which are farther from the city’s center, have some of Boston’s largest backyards.
