Uncover what the sum commands in East Boston, the South End, Jamaica Plain, and elsewhere

South End

We start in the upper reaches of the busy, busy South End, where Unit 4 at 81 East Brookline Street totals 640 square feet, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The rent will also cover a sofa.

South Boston

The new Unit 3 at 618 East Second Street comes with a garage parking spot and a washer-dryer. The 904-square-footer includes one bedroom and one and a half bathrooms.

Fenway/Kenmore

Unit 204 at 103 Gainsborough Street near Northeastern University includes a washer-dryer and central AC. The 614-square-foot apartment has one bedroom and one bathroom.

East Boston

The recently renovated Unit 3B at 139 Border Street includes central air and a washer-dryer. The spread runs to 600 square feet, and includes one bedroom and one bathroom.

Jamaica Plain

We end with the most spacious of the lot: Unit 1 at 298 Chestnut Avenue, which unfolds over 1,600 square feet and includes two bedrooms and one bathroom as well as a private back deck. The $2,600 a month also covers two off-street parking spots.
