Developer Catamount Management Corp. has broken ground on the first residential component of the 20-acre, 1.1 million-square-foot development-slash-redevelopment slated for the former H.P. Hood Plant in Charlestown.
The 177-unit component at 480 Rutherford Avenue is due to include a mix of apartments ranging from studios to two-bedrooms, with 23 units designated as affordable.
There will also be amenities such as garage parking and bike storage as well as a yoga studio and a courtyard. The complex is due to include 10,500 square feet of retail, too.
The entire Hood Park project is expected to take two years, and includes the conversion of existing buildings into top-shelf office and research/development space.
