Three-year-old plans to build at least 656 apartments and condos in multiple buildings on a 5-acre site between Old Colony and Dorchester avenues in South Boston could advance now that one of Boston’s more prolific private developers has joined the project.
Recall that plans for what’s been dubbed Washington Village have been on the books since Core Investments secured the necessary approvals in 2016. Yet the project has yet to get underway.
Now Samuels & Associates—a firm whose portfolio includes Fenway’s Pierce Boston and plans for two towers over the Mass. Turnpike in Back Bay—has joined the ticket, per the Globe’s Tim Logan.
That could mean “new life” for the 656-unit project near the Andrew Square stop of the Red Line. The project as it now stands is supposed to include up to nine buildings, some as high as 21 stories, and tens of thousands of square feet of open space. Stay tuned.
