The family that has long owned a surface parking lot at Newbury and Dartmouth streets in Back Bay has put the parcel up for sale.

The parcel—the only one of its kind in the core of the Boston neighborhood and the last surface parking lot on Newbury Street—could host a significant development.

Because of that, the site is expected to fetch tens of millions of dollars, per the Globe’s Tim Logan. Ultimately, it will be up to the new owner, city officials, and a neighborhood review as to what might replace the lot, which is approximately one-third of an acre.

It might be months before a sale goes through, though the listing broker hopes to secure one by the summer. Stay tuned.
