Seaport District apartments at 501 Congress Street set to open in March 2020

Rents are still to come, but the amounts at the Gables Seaport are likely to be on the higher end given its location and amenities

The 23-story, 307-unit apartment building going up at 501 Congress Street in the Seaport District will open in March, according to developers Gables Residential and Drew Company.

As for asking rents, a rep for the developers says that those will be released when pre-leasing starts in early 2020. Undoubtedly, given the location and the amenities package the developers are going for, rents at 501 Congress—dubbed Gables Seaport—are likely to be on the higher end for Boston (and that’s saying a lot).

Amenities are due to include a terrace, with a swimming pool and an outdoor lounge, as well as a fitness center, a pet spa, bike storage (and a bike workshop), and 24-7 concierge services. On-site parking is also expected as is direct access to the Silver Line.

“The Seaport offers many of the qualities we seek in a development opportunity, including an irreplaceable site close to transit, employers, retail, and entertainment,” Joe Shea, development director for Atlanta-based Gables Residential, said in a release on the opening date. “Drew Company’s history in the Seaport has been a great resource, and we look forward to future ventures with them.”

The building is expected to be a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms; and will feature a green roof that the developers say will guide rainfall toward plantings and soil, “greatly reducing runoff.” CBT Architects is designing the building, and Halvorson Design the roof deck and amenity spaces.
