A six-story, 49-unit condo building will replace an existing building at 50 Leo Birmingham Parkway in Brighton under a plan that the Boston Planning and Development Agency approved in mid-August.

Developer City Realty Group—which recently started construction on a 39-unit condo project in Jamaica Plain’s Egleston Square and is quite busy in Allston too—will replace the building with a 48,645-square-foot property that is expected to have 12 studios, 21 one-bedrooms, 13 two-bedrooms, and three three-bedrooms. Six units will be income-restricted.

The project is also expected to have 52 off-street parking spaces and room for around 54 bikes. As part of the plan for 50 Leo Birmingham, City Realty has agreed to contribute to improvements and maintenance at Portsmouth Street Playground and Murray Field, according to the BPDA.

City Realty expects to start construction in February, with completion in March 2021. Fifty Leo Birmingham will join other residential projects in an area just off Western Avenue that until now had long been known for its commercial real estate.
