Welcome to Train in Vain, Curbed Boston's new feature on homes for sale along the region's commuter rail and outer reaches of the T. How'd we get to this point? Well, when asked by a reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper where people priced out of Boston's core might buy, some clown half-jokingly replied, "Waltham?" And here we are.

Thing is, though, Watch City USA, like much of the rest of Greater Boston, is grappling with its own housing crunch. Things get listed and they go fast and there's not a lot of new supply (certain projects notwithstanding).
