As if buying a home in Boston isn’t a daunting enough task already, homes along the city’s waterfront often seem in an elusive class all their own, quickly reaching dizzying prices in the multi-million dollar range.

But this week’s open house tour proves that a waterside home doesn’t need to break the bank (by Boston standards at least).

There’s plenty to see, including condos around the established Waterfront wharves and the Charlestown Navy Yard to new-construction luxury homes on the Neponset River.
